Interview Sidekick alternatives (2026): five tools compared on price, free tiers and platforms

What Interview Sidekick actually costs
Interview Sidekick has one paid plan, Ultimate Sidekick. On 18 October 2026 the pricing page showed 160 $ crossed out and 80 $ a month with the code SAVE50 “at checkout”, or 53 $ a month billed quarterly (159 $ every 90 days, also with the code; 318 $ without it). For a single interview it offers a week for 50 $, which renews weekly until you cancel. The home page describes the free option as a 2-minute test of the real-time assistant, with no card.
It is the most flexible on devices: a desktop app for macOS and Windows (on our check date the download page offered Apple Silicon and Intel builds to Mac visitors and an installer to Windows visitors), Chrome on any desktop, and the phone browser on iOS and Android for phone screens.
The weekly plan is the one to read carefully. It is sold as “just one interview?”, but it renews every week until you cancel, so a forgotten cancellation costs 50 $ a week, more than the monthly plan. The pricing page says you can cancel anytime from your account settings and keep access until the end of the billing period.
1. Verve AI: free live sessions and mock interviews
Verve AI has one of the most generous free tiers here: three 15-minute live copilot sessions and five AI mock interviews, with no card. Paid plans come in three billing periods. Standard (five sessions a month of up to 60 minutes) costs 44.99 $ a month billed monthly, 39.99 $ quarterly or 16.99 $ annually. Pro (unlimited sessions of up to 90 minutes, 20 interview domains and reasoning models) costs 84.99 $ a month, 59.99 $ quarterly or 34.99 $ annually.
The pricing page says it is available on Mac, Windows and iPhone, and marks stealth mode as desktop-app only.
Pick it if: you want to run a real practice call or two on the free plan before deciding, or you will be interviewing for most of the year.
2. Sensei AI: cheapest on a yearly plan
Sensei AI has one paid plan: Pro at 89 $ a month, or 24 $ a month billed annually. That annual price is the lowest per month in this list for unlimited sessions, but it means paying 288 $ up front. The free plan offers 15-minute copilot sessions, and its FAQ says you can start as many as you need. Sensei runs in the browser as a web app, with no desktop download on its home page.
Pick it if: you are sure you will use it for a year and prefer a browser tool to a desktop app.
3. Final Round AI: the biggest bundle
Final Round AI is the biggest name in the category and bundles the most around the live copilot: an AI interview report, a 10,000+ question bank, coding and HireVue modes, and stealth mode. On 18 October 2026 its subscription page was running a price test: fresh visits showed one of two price lists for the same features. Most of our visits saw 150 $ month to month, 83.33 $ a month billed quarterly and 25 $ a month billed annually (300 $ up front), plus a Premium MAX plan with premium models at 41.67 $ a month billed annually. The others saw 125 $ a month billed every two months, 83.33 $ a month billed half-yearly and 62.50 $ a month billed annually (750 $ up front). The free plan covers the interview report and prep management, not the live copilot. The home page showed Pro from 25 $ a month on the same day, and the subscription page invites you to sign in to reveal today’s discount, so the price you see may differ again.
Refunds: the FAQ on the subscription page offers a 72-hour money-back guarantee on first-time quarterly and yearly purchases and calls monthly plans, renewals and upgrades non-refundable. The separate refund policy (last updated 8 October 2026) is broader: 72 hours on any plan, renewals included, once per customer and not after two sessions longer than 30 minutes. The two pages disagree, so confirm in writing before you rely on either.
Pick it if: you want prep, a question bank and the live copilot in one subscription and can pay for several months up front to get its lower rates.
4. Parakeet AI: pay per interview hour
Parakeet AI is the one to look at if your interviews are spread out. Credits are bought in packs and used whenever: one credit is one hour of calls (half a credit for a 30-minute session). A single credit costs 33 €, and the price per credit falls to 17 € in a 3-credit pack, 12.75 € in an 8-credit pack and 10.20 € in a 15-credit pack. Unlimited costs 129.90 € a month, 519.90 € a year, or 67 € for a week. The free session is 10 minutes, with no card.
Its desktop app runs on Windows and macOS, and live sessions also run in desktop Chrome, which its page says is the way to use it on Linux.
Pick it if: your interviews are scattered over several months and you do not want to pay for the weeks in between.
5. Interview Copilot: one month, paid once
This is ours, so read it with that in mind. Interview Copilot is a desktop app that listens to the interviewer through system audio, not your microphone. When the interviewer stops speaking, the answer appears on its own, without a hotkey. For coding rounds, a screenshot of the task is solved on screen, and a separate hotkey turns the last question into a full system design answer.
The price is 25 $ for 30 days, paid once, with no auto-renewal. When the month ends the app falls back to the free tier instead of charging you again. The free tier needs no card and includes 5 minutes of live recognition and 3 screenshot solutions. It has a native Linux build (an AppImage, currently in beta), the interface is available in 27 languages, and since version 1.10.6 the answers can also appear on your phone: scan a QR code, nothing to install on the phone, and the window on the laptop hides while the phone is connected.
Pick it if: you have one intense month of interviews and do not want to remember to cancel, you work on Linux, or you want the answer in a language other than the interview’s. What the free tier includes.
Where Interview Copilot is weaker
A vendor-written comparison should say where the vendor loses:
- No preparation platform. Verve AI, Interview Sidekick, Sensei AI and Final Round AI all include mock interviews or prep tools, and several add question banks, resume builders or post-interview reports. We have a live prompter and an exportable interview history, and nothing for practising beforehand.
- A short free tier. 5 minutes is enough to test transcription quality, not to get through an interview. Verve’s three 15-minute sessions let you test much more.
- Free answers use a lighter model. Pro runs on Claude and uses your resume, and the difference in answer quality is noticeable.
- The phone is a second screen, not a standalone app. The laptop does the listening; the phone only shows the answers. If you want to run the whole interview from a phone, Interview Sidekick and Verve AI have phone options of their own.
- Linux is a beta. Tested end to end on Ubuntu in an X11 session; Wayland is not verified yet, and on Linux the overlay is not hidden from screen sharing. See the Linux page.
- Payments are final. There are no refunds, which is why the free tier exists. Test it on a recording first.
How we compared
Every price in the table was read from the vendor’s own pages on 18 October 2026, in a real browser, not from review sites or other comparison posts. Interview Sidekick’s monthly price depends on a discount code printed on its own pricing page; we show the price with that code and the list price next to it. Where a page used toggles (billing periods, credit packs), we switched each one and recorded every combination. Final Round AI’s subscription page showed different prices on different visits, so we reloaded it in fresh browser sessions and list both price sets we saw. Where a vendor did not print a figure, we say so instead of estimating it. Parakeet AI displayed prices in euros for our location, and we left them in euros.
We did not rank by answer quality, which depends on accent, connection and model, and is better measured by you. Play a recorded interview through your speakers and check whether the transcript keeps up and the answer arrives in time to be useful. Our checklist for that test is in how to choose an AI interview assistant, and the wider comparison is on the alternatives page.
How to decide in five minutes
Count your interviews and look at how they are spread. One interview this week: Interview Sidekick’s 50 $ week works if you remember to cancel. Interview Copilot’s 25 $ month needs no cancelling. Several interviews over a few months: Parakeet AI credits mean you do not pay for empty weeks. Job hunting for most of the year: an annual plan (Sensei AI at 24 $ a month, Verve AI Standard at 16.99 $ a month) is cheapest per month, if you pay for the year up front. Then use the free tiers to test transcription before you pay anyone.

Check the page before buying: the discount is a code, and promotions change.
Does Interview Sidekick have a free plan?
Yes. Its home page describes the free option as a 2-minute test of the real-time interview assistant with no credit card, and the free Basic plan adds limited prep sessions and question-bank access. Verve AI (three 15-minute sessions), Parakeet AI (one 10-minute session) and Interview Copilot (5 minutes of live recognition plus 3 screenshot solutions) state their free limits too.
What is the cheapest alternative to Interview Sidekick?
For one month without remembering to cancel, Interview Copilot at 25 $ for 30 days paid once. For a whole year, Sensei AI Pro at 24 $ a month or Verve AI Standard at 16.99 $ a month, both billed annually. For interviews spread over months, Parakeet AI credits, from 10.20 euros per hour of calls in its largest pack.
Does Interview Sidekick work on Windows or Linux?
Windows, yes: on 18 October 2026 its download page offered a Windows installer to Windows visitors and Apple Silicon and Intel builds to Mac visitors, and its home page says the assistant also runs in Chrome on any desktop. Its pages list no Linux app, so on Linux that means Chrome. For a native Linux app, Interview Copilot has an AppImage in beta; Parakeet AI runs in desktop Chrome, which its page says works on Linux.
Can I use an interview assistant on my phone?
Interview Sidekick runs in the phone browser on iOS and Android, and Verve AI has an iPhone app. Interview Copilot works differently: the app listens on your laptop and the answers appear on your phone after you scan a QR code, with nothing installed on the phone and the laptop window hidden while the phone is connected.
