Your AI interview assistant, on your phone

Interview Copilot runs on your laptop: it hears the interviewer through the call audio and reads the coding task on your screen. With phone mode, the answers stream to your phone instead. Press 📱 in the app, scan the QR code, and the phone becomes a second screen that only you look at. Hide the overlay, and the laptop shows nothing at all — not on the screen share, not in the recording.

How it works, in three steps

1. Install on the laptop. Download the app for macOS, Windows or Linux and start it before the call — the laptop is the part that listens and reads the screen. 2. Press 📱 and scan the QR code. Point the phone camera at the code and tap the link: a page opens in the phone's browser and connects in a few seconds. 3. Read the answers on the phone. Every question the interviewer asks, every coding screenshot and every system-design plan shows up on the phone as it is being written. The overlay on the laptop can stay open or be hidden — your choice.

Why read the answers on a phone

The overlay is already excluded from screen sharing and recordings on macOS and Windows. Phone mode removes the last thing on the laptop: with the overlay hidden there is no window at all, so a full-screen share, a cloud recording or a screenshot tool has nothing to catch, even on a call app you have never tested. Some interview platforms also log tab switches and lost window focus; with the answers on the phone there is no other window to switch to. It also gives the whole laptop screen back to the IDE, the shared document or the call. On Linux, where the overlay is not hidden from screen share yet, it is the way to keep the shared screen clean.

What you need

A laptop with macOS, Windows or Linux running Interview Copilot, and any phone with a modern browser — iPhone or Android. Nothing to install on the phone, no app store, no second login. Both devices just need internet; they do not have to be on the same Wi-Fi.

Works with every call app

The laptop does the listening and the reading, so the phone does not care where the interview happens: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Tencent Meeting, Feishu (Lark), CoderPad, HackerRank or an interview in the browser. Voice answers, coding solutions from a screenshot, system-design plans and debug help all arrive on the phone the same way.

Private by design

The QR code carries a random one-time key in the part of the link that browsers never send to the website, so it does not end up in server logs or analytics. Only a phone that scanned the code can join, and only the text of the answers travels to it — no audio, no screenshots. Close the overlay or press Disconnect, and the session ends; the next one gets a new key.

What a phone does not hide

A phone is a physical object on your desk. If your camera shows the desk, if you look down for long stretches, or if a proctored test asks you to set up a second camera behind you (the "dual-camera" setup common on Chinese testing platforms), the phone is in view — and we do not claim otherwise. Most people stand the phone just under or beside the webcam so their eyes barely move, glance instead of reading, and say the answer in their own words.

Free to try

Phone mode is part of the free version too: answers on Groq, 5 minutes of live recognition and 3 coding-screenshot solutions. Pro is 25 $ for 30 days — answers on the latest Claude, personalized to your resume, with unlimited recognition — paid once, with no auto-renewal.

FAQ

Do I need to install an app on my phone?

No. After you scan the QR code, the phone opens an ordinary web page — Safari, Chrome or any modern browser works. Only the laptop runs Interview Copilot.

Can the interviewer see the answers?

Not through the call. The answers are on your phone, and the overlay on the laptop can be hidden, so a screen share or recording of the laptop shows nothing. What the app cannot control is your camera: if the phone, or your eyes on it, are in frame, that is visible like anything else on your desk.

Does it work with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Tencent Meeting or Feishu?

Yes. The laptop captures the call's system audio and the screen, so the platform does not matter — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Tencent Meeting, Feishu (Lark) and interviews in the browser all work.

How much does it cost?

Phone mode is included in both plans. Free: answers on Groq, 5 minutes of live recognition and 3 coding-screenshot solutions. Pro: 25 $ for 30 days with the latest Claude and resume personalization — a one-time payment with no auto-renewal.

What if the phone disconnects or the screen locks?

While the page is open it keeps the screen awake, and if the connection drops it reconnects on its own and pulls the latest answers, so nothing is lost. The laptop keeps working the whole time. If you closed the page, open the QR code in the app again and scan it.

Who else can see what is sent to the phone?

Only a device that scanned your QR code. The code holds a random 128-bit key that stays in the link fragment, which browsers do not send to the website. Just the text of the answers is sent — no audio, no screenshots — and the key changes with every new session.

What if the interview is a phone call?

Interview Copilot listens to the sound on your laptop, so it cannot hear a regular call on your phone. Take the call on the laptop instead (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or the desktop app of WhatsApp or Telegram) and use the phone only as the screen for answers.
