Parakeet AI alternatives (2026): six tools compared, priced per interview hour

· 9 min read

Quick answer: Parakeet AI is best value when your interviews are spread over several months, because you buy hours (33 € for one, as little as 10.20 € each in its biggest pack) instead of paying every month. If your interviews are bunched into a few weeks, a flat plan costs less: Final Round AI from 25 $ a month, LockedIn AI from 54.99 $ a month, or Verve AI from 34.99 $ a month billed annually. Interview Copilot is the flat option without a subscription, at 25 $ for 30 days, paid once.

Checked Oct 2026: every price read from the vendor’s own pricing page on 13 October 2026. Parakeet AI showed euro prices for our region. “Not published” means the vendor’s page does not state it.

How Parakeet AI's credits work

Parakeet AI sells interview time instead of months. On its pricing section, half a credit covers a 30-minute call session or a mock interview, so one credit is an hour of calls. A single credit costs 33 €. The packs lower the price per credit:

  • 3 credits: 51 €, or 17 € per credit.
  • 6 credits plus 2 free: 102 €, or 12.75 € per credit across all eight.
  • 9 credits plus 6 free: 153 €, or 10.20 € per credit across all fifteen.

Credits also pay for the extras: 0.25 credit per resume PDF download, 0.5 per AI headshot, one credit per question-bank position. If you would rather not count, the Unlimited plan is 129.90 € a month, 519.90 € a year (43.33 € a month), or 67 € for one week. The free tier is one 10-minute session plus your first mock interview, with no card required.

Parakeet runs as a desktop app on Windows and macOS. It also runs live sessions in desktop Chrome, and its page says that includes Linux. Its list of verified platforms names Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Lark, Amazon Chime, CoderPad and HackerRank.

When credits are cheaper, and when they are not

Credits are not automatically the cheap option. A single credit (33 € for one hour) already costs more than a month of Final Round AI Pro at 25 $, and the 10.20 € hourly rate only applies if you buy the largest pack, 153 € up front for fifteen hours. Two examples show where the line is:

  • Three interviews in one week: the 3-credit pack costs 51 €. A one-month flat plan at 25 $ covers the same week, and any follow-up rounds, for less than half of that.
  • Six interviews over six months: the 6+2 pack costs 102 € and covers eight hours. Keeping a 25 $ monthly subscription running for six months costs about 150 $, and you pay for the weeks with no interviews too.

So the rule of thumb is about spread, not count. Interviews scattered over many months favour Parakeet's credits. Interviews bunched into a busy few weeks, which is how most final-stage loops run, favour a flat month, and a flat plan also removes the meter running in your head during the call.

1. LockedIn AI: credits plus unlimited plans

LockedIn AI is the only alternative here that also sells metered time. Its Credits plan is 69.99 $ a month for 400 copilot minutes, about 10.50 $ per hour, or 49.99 $ a month billed every three months for 20 hours per quarter. LockedIn says credits never expire. Its Unlimited General plan is 54.99 $ a month (39.99 $ a month billed quarterly), Professional is 119.99 $ a month, and Lifetime Pro is 999.50 $ one-time.

Check the refund policy before choosing it for one interview: monthly and quarterly plans are non-refundable once started. Full pricing detail is in LockedIn AI alternatives.

Pick it if: you like metered pricing but expect more hours than Parakeet's packs cover.

2. Verve AI: the most free minutes to test with

Parakeet's free tier is one 10-minute session. Verve AI gives three 15-minute live copilot sessions and five mock interviews for free, which is enough to test it in a realistic practice call. Paid plans are subscriptions. Pro, with unlimited 90-minute sessions, costs 84.99 $ a month billed monthly, 59.99 $ a month billed quarterly, or 34.99 $ a month billed annually. It runs on macOS and Windows, with an iPhone app.

Pick it if: you want to test properly before paying and you will be interviewing for months.

3. Interview Copilot: a flat month without a subscription

This is ours. Parakeet's credits appeal to people who do not want a recurring charge, and that is the same reason our Pro exists: 25 $ for 30 days, paid once, with no auto-renewal. During those 30 days recognition and answers are not metered, apart from a daily safety cap of 600 answers. When the month ends, the app returns to the free tier and charges nothing.

It listens to the interviewer through system audio and starts the answer when they stop speaking, without a hotkey. For coding rounds it solves a screenshot of the task. It has a native Linux desktop build (an AppImage in beta), where Parakeet relies on Chrome, and the interface comes in 27 languages. The free tier needs no card and includes 5 minutes of live recognition and 3 screenshot solutions. Details of the free tier.

Pick it if: you have a busy month of interviews and want a fixed price without a subscription.

4. Final Round AI: unlimited sessions for 25 $ a month

Final Round AI's Pro plan starts at 25 $ a month and includes unlimited live copilot sessions, practice interviews and automatic debriefs. It is a desktop app for macOS 14.4+ and Windows. Its free plan covers preparation only, and the pricing page states there is no free trial of live sessions. Longer plans are advertised at up to 40% off, but the page does not print those prices. More in Final Round AI alternatives, and a three-way breakdown in Final Round AI vs LockedIn AI vs Parakeet AI.

Pick it if: you want an unlimited subscription with a preparation suite and do not need a free live session first.

5. Interview Coder: for coding assessments only

Interview Coder costs 299 $ a month with 1,000 usage credits, or 799 $ for a lifetime licence, and the free download has no AI features. It is aimed at coding assessments, not at general interviews. For someone moving away from Parakeet to save money it is the wrong direction. It makes sense only when nearly every round is a timed coding task. See Interview Coder alternatives.

Pick it if: coding assessments are your whole interview process.

6. Cluely: cheap Pro, but built for meetings

Cluely Pro is the cheapest subscription here at 19.99 $ a month, with unlimited AI responses and meeting notes. It is a general meeting assistant, and its top tier, Pro + Undetectability, costs 149.99 $ a month. The comparison with Parakeet only makes sense if most of your calls are meetings rather than interviews. More in Cluely alternatives.

Pick it if: you need a meeting assistant that can also help in an occasional interview.

Where Interview Copilot is weaker

  • No pay-per-hour option. If your interviews are scattered over many months, Parakeet’s credits avoid paying for months you do not use. Our Pro is a 30-day pass.
  • No mock interviews, resume builder or question bank. Parakeet includes all three. We focus on the live call and an exportable history of the questions you were asked.
  • A shorter free tier than Verve. 5 minutes is enough to check transcription on a recording, not to cover a practice interview.
  • The free tier uses a lighter model. Free answers run on Groq. Pro runs on Claude and uses your resume.
  • No mobile app. Parakeet has a mobile web version and Verve has an iPhone app. We are desktop only.
  • Payments are final. There are no refunds, so test the free tier before you pay.

How we compared

We read every price from the vendor's own pricing page on 13 October 2026 and recorded each billing toggle separately. When a vendor did not print a figure, such as Final Round AI's longer plans or LockedIn AI's free limits, the table says “not published” instead of quoting a review site. Parakeet AI showed prices in euros for our location, so they stay in euros here. The per-hour figures are our arithmetic on those published numbers, not vendor claims.

We did not score answer quality, because it changes with the model behind each tool and with your interviewer's accent and connection. Test it yourself: play a recorded interview through your speakers and check transcription speed and answer timing. Our checklist is in how to choose an AI interview assistant, and the broader comparison lives on the alternatives page.
